πŸ’‘ Introduction

At the end of the world, the Dawn Engine of Babylon was completed. And the engine was given life. And from it, a great rift was born. And the world was torn asunder.

--Parable of The End and The Beginning, Book I, Chapter I

Since the Convergence, the physical world has become a shadow of itself. Multiple realities -- each of them alike, yet altogether different -- are now one and the same. Time and Space are relative. Reality is but an illusion; and within that illusion, life goes on.

Now, several hundred years after the Convergence, society has reappeared atop the shaky foundations of this strange new world of magic and machine. Whether from Kolob, the Sovereignty, or some other place and time altogether, the survivors of the Convergence who once found this place unfamiliar now call it their home, building new lives amongst the ruins of monuments from many different worlds. With society comes progress; with progress comes opportunity. What does this broken land hold in store for you? Prosperity? Power? A cruel, cruel fate?

The moon is watching.
The Tower is waiting.
The gods are silent.

Go forth, child. Make this world your own... while there is still time.

πŸŒ„ Your First Day

You've arrived on the Central Island! Take some time to look around the gardens which showcase some of the best mods in the pack. When you're ready to begin, hop on the North, South, East, or West line and the conductor will take you to the nearest shore.

With the Comforts mod, sleeping can be done on-the-go with a Sleeping Bag. Craft one as soon as possible to make your travels easier. Exploration is a huge element of this server, and with that comes plenty of dangers. Death is inevitable. Luckily, the Corail Tombstone mod will preserve your items in a tomb upon death. As you increase your Knowledge of Death, you'll start to unlock greater magical powers from this mod.

Just pray you don't get a Blood Moon on your first night (see Other Tips).

πŸ“ˆ Progression

The pack includes two very handy mods that will aid you in your progression: Clickable Advancements and FTB Quests. Any time you unlock an achievement or advancement, pay attention to the chat. You'll notice the highlighted advancement is clickable and will bring you straight to the relevant advancements page for that mod.

Similarly, take a look at the FTB Quests menu (press E and look for the button) for a whole host of questlines pertaining to different mods in the pack. This will help you get started and progress through mods you're not familiar with. Be sure to claim your reward in the FTB Quests menu each time you complete a quest.

βš’οΈ Building

Planning in Creative and building in Survival is a breeze in Beanpack 3 using the Schematicannon from Create. Design your builds in a Creative world, then use a Schematic and Quill to save it as a Create schematic. In survival, place an Empty Schematic into the Schematic Table to load your schematic. With this you can select its placement in the world and give it to the Schematicannon to receive a checklist of required resources. Provide the cannon with gunpowder and an adjacent chest full of resources, then watch it build! For more info on using schematics in Create, check out this video guide.

The pack also includes MineColonies, which you can use to construct a living, breathing city with the help of NPC citizens. Many different themes are available in the latest version to complement your location, playstyle, and lore.

Want to protect your claims and mark them on the map? You can with FTB Chunks! First, create an FTB Team. Chunks you claim will belong to that team. Open up your JourneyMap and use the FTB Chunks feature to claim chunks on the map. Each player starts with a limit of 50 chunks. This is to prevent players claiming large areas and leaving them empty. This limit can always be increased if it's clear that you're actually using your current claims. Just ask an admin. Limits are per-player, so a team of two players, for example, will start with 100 chunks.

πŸ—ΊοΈ Exploration

The Beanpack 3 world is FILLED TO THE BRIM with places to explore. When Dungeons Arise and Dungeon Crawl are two mods that generate a variety of beautiful (and terrifying) dungeons both above ground and below. Why risk life and limb exploring these dungeons? They're the best places to find the best loot! There's an achievement for each type of dungeon you can find in the When Dungeons Arise mod. Only the most adventurous will find them all...

In addition to valuable items from vanilla and core mods, you may even stumble upon a rare artifact from the Artifacts mod. These items CANNOT be crafted and can only be found through exploration. To create a better multiplayer experience, the pack also includes the Lootr mod, which makes every loot chest instanced per-player. That way you can still benefit from exploring the places others have already found.

JourneyMap is your best friend in the exploration of BP3. Create waypoints for important spots, and explore new areas to fill out your map. As an added reference, you can access the Bluemap (linked at the top of the page) for a 3D view of the known world.

🧹 Transportation

There are many modes of travel in Beanpack 3, but the wizards among you likely have one in mind: flying. With the EvilCraft broom, you can soar the landscape on a highly-customizable broom. An essential for any magical aviation enthusiast. With the Ars Nouveau mod, craft a spell using the Leap Glyph and apply it to yourself to be launched in whatever direction you're looking. With enough mana, it's essentially flying.

Another mod of transit, which you'll see the moment you spawn, comes from the Create mod: T R A I N S . With Create's rail tracks and train stations, you can create trains of any size and shape and control them manually or automatically. This is a versatile option, as the trains and train systems can be as simple or complex as you want them to be.

Finally, there are good ole fashioned boats from the Small Ships mod. From cogs to briggs to galleys, you can build your ship for speed, cargo, or even war (cannons).

✍️ Other Tips

The economy in Beanpack 3 is handled with Lightman's Currency Mod. With this mod you can mint coins of different value from copper, iron, gold, emerald, diamond, and netherite. Use an ATM to exchange big change for small, or vice versa. It also includes a variety of different shop blocks like vending machines and bookshelfs to sell your wares. By changing the settings of these blocks, you have control over who can access them, what's for sale, where the revenue goes, and much more. Craft a wallet to carry around large sums of coin conveniently, or make a bank deposit for safekeeping. To see more, check out the Lightman's Currency showcase in spawn.

Make sure you're prepared for the various moons in the Enhanced Celestials mod. During a Blood Moon, you'll be unable to sleep and the monster spawn cap will increase. A good time to retreat to your doomsday bunker and watch reruns of Friends. The Harvest Moon is every farmer's dream. Not only will your crops grow faster, but their drop rates will also increase. Go out and harvest! Finally, the Blue Moon gives you Luck and increases loot quality. Perfect time for a dungeon run.

REDUCING LAG: The Pipez mod can be used as a lag-friendly way to move items and fluids over a long distance, as opposed to massive Create conveyor belts or hordes of Ars creatures. Opt for Pipez when possible.

For more info on any of the mods mentioned in this page, check out the Mod List where each mod in the pack includes a link to its CurseForge page (and sometimes a guide).
